He was uncertain until the last minute, but now he knows that he will be staying in the world championship: Ondrej Jezek signed with Mirco Guandalini’s team - a team that has a Yamaha R1 on the grid - with which various riders alternated last season, from Riccardo Russo to Alessandro Andreozzi.

Jezek, a rider from Brno, did well in 2017 astride the team Grillini Kawasaki ZX-10R, a bike that he finished with in the points many times. A fan of the biathlon and winter sports, “Ondra” said that he is very happy about the new project with the Italian team, one of the most expert on the Superbike scene.

Tall and thin, skilled in close combat, Jezek will need to get used to the 4-cylinder from Iwata, a brand new bike for him. The Czech Republic will have a good representative for the round scheduled for the weekend that goes from 8 to 10 June next year. In Moravia, Ondrej will be on his home turf and he will have the potential to do two good races on Saturday and Sunday.

Jezek’s first official test with the Yamaha R1 will be in Jerez during the last week of January before leaving for Australia where the 2018 season opener will be held.
