After a brief taste at the Losail night races, here is the signing for 2018: Roberto Rolfo and team Grillini will be together for the next World SBK season and they will be racing the new Suzuki GSX-R 1000 four-cylinder.

This brings the Italian rider stably back to the top factory derivative category after many years in Supersport. His first time in Superbike was 2006, when Roberto made his début astride the team SC Caracchi Ducati 999, a bike where he immediately found a good feeling in a championship that he liked instantly. In the following years, Rolfo also rode for Honda and Kawasaki, and his most recent appearance in Qatar was a foreshadowing to his return.

The team from Monaco will therefore have a rider who has ridden in the Grand Prix World Motorcycle Racing Championship in the 250, Moto2 and MotoGP categories who will bring plenty of experience that will come in handy for developing the new Suzuki: “In Qatar I immediately established a good feeling with team Grillini - the number 44 rider explained - and we decided to join forces for 2018. I will have a Suzuki GSX-R 1000, a bike that I have always like and finding such a passionate team made me very happy and enthusiastic straight away, ready for yet another new adventure.”

Andrea Grillini, ready to announce the second rider, is satisfied with his first choice: “As I had said, I have been following Rolfo for many years - the team manager revealed - and, after the double race in Losail, we decided together to bet on 2018 with the new Suzuki. Everyone on the team is happy about Roberto’s arrival because he will bring what we need to develop the bike and make another leap forward in quality in this difficult championship.”
