2018 is already underway for Andrea Iannone at the end of a tough but significant year for both him and Suzuki.
Progress has been made this season, with the Italian gradually getting to grips with development of the Hamatsu MotoGP.

“There is a good atmosphere within the team and we're working well - explains Andrea, a guest in our #GPOnecar during the Valencia tests - the chance to carry out more tests thanks to the concessions we're given due to the lack of results this season is a positive thing. We'll have more freedom to develop. This is an advantage, but I wasn't hoping for it, I was rather hoping for a podium or a win”.

Accused of not being focused or more worried abut his jet-set lifestyle, Iannone responds with irony.

Do I think about women too much? They're important to me, but what people are saying is too much… it's easy to point at this, but basically I've always shown who I am, and the reality of my life, that of a very normal 28-year old guy…perhaps it bothers some people”.

In reality we know his him as an almost shy man.

“I am very reserved. For me the bike too has a soul and is exciting (as much as a woman). The Suzuki? Soft and gentle. The Ducati? More of a... beast”.

With said beast, Andrea gave Ducati its first win post-Stoner, at last year's Austrian GP, at the Red Bull Ring.
Having seen what Dovizioso has done this year, we wonder whether he has any regrets…

“I can't live in dream world: we have to deal with the facts. I haven't given any thought to Iannone on the Ducati  against Marquez. I was more bothered by the fact we weren't competitive. In reality I was pleased for the Ducati team that worked for this year's result because I know them. I hope it's our turn next year”.
