In the Jerez paddock last week, alongside the rumbling Moto3 and Moto2 bikes, you could also hear a more metallic sound, which conjured up old memories. This 2-stroke symphony was hard to miss.

Also on track during the world championship test session was the MMX500 2-stroke built by Suter, a frame builder also working in Moto2. The project is both nonconformist and extremely appealing, with the MMX having already made its track debut in 2016, at the Tourist Trophy.

Eskil Suter was there at Jerez to carry out tests with MMX. Prior to founding his engineering firm with his brother, Swiss Suter was himself an accomplished rider, finishing second in the European 250 class in 1991 behind Max Biaggi, before competing in the world 250 class up until 1996. In 1998 he completed several 500 races on the Muz, standing in for Romboni.

Now 50, he continues to enjoy testing his bike, but other riders are also keen to experience the Swiss 500 2-strokes. Putting his Moto2 aside for a moment, Mattia Pasini completed a few laps on board the Suter.

We leave you with the sound of the 2-stroke, you can enjoy it in this video, if you haven't already done so.
