MotoGP, Zarco: "Now is the time to believe in a win"

Johann reveals: "The heat is really strong. I'll go to bed at 9 again this evening so that I am ready for the race"

MotoGP: Zarco:

Johann Zarco is a thorn in the side for everyone and once again he was keen to reiterate it. The Frenchman already had the taste of the pole in his mouth at Sepang, but at the last moment, Dani Pedrosa sent his ambitions up in smoke, snatching it just as things were looking up.

I was able to find the right confidence straight away, using two types of tyres - Johann recalled - I had my sights set on the pole in the final minutes and I wasn’t that far off, but I missed it by a hair.”

Zarco looks elsewhere, because in Malaysia he is looking for another shot after his fourth place at Phillip Island.

I the dry I expect a good race – he pointed out – Starting from the front will definitely help. Now I need to believe in the win, because otherwise it wouldn’t be worth it to race.”

In Malaysia the fans expect an Australia-style race and Johann shares these hopes.

“I hope that the race will have the same rhythm as today – the Frenchman said – with the goal of staying in the leading group.”

Listening to his statements in the press conference is also Mir, who took pole position in Moto3.

I am very happy about Joan’s performance – Zarco commented – He is a young man who is improving quickly. Like him, I also had to go from Moto3 to Moto2, so I would like to wish him all the best.

His thoughts then return to the race, because besides his rivals, he’ll also have to deal with the heat.

“I tried to go to bed early this whole week – he concluded – This evening I’ll go to bed a nine o’clock again. I think that being well rested can make the difference.”
