Moto2: De Angelis to replace Simeon at Sepang

With Xavier Siméon having hurt himself during the Phillip Island qualifying session and undergone surgery on the little finger of his right hand as a result, Tasca Racing confirms that Alex De Angelis will step in and ride the team's Kalex this coming weekend in Malaysia.

There is a strong bond between De Angelis and Tasca Racing. The team once again puts their faith in the San Marino rider's experience and reliability in light of Siméon's forced absence, as it already did during the Silverstone GP.

De Angelis, already set to join the team in Malaysia is very pleased to ride at Sepang,  a track where he has put together some great performances throughout his career, even winning the Moto2 race at that track in 2012.

"It was wonderful for me to receive again the call of Enrico Tasca and have this new and exciting opportunity to race in a circuit where I have already won in Moto2 - comments De Angelis - All this adds to what is already a really exciting opportunity. I will try, as usual, to get the best during the whole weekend, without setting myself any particular goals, and take the opportunity to send my best wishes to Xavier Simeon."

Team manager Enrico Tasca adds: “Unfortunately we again find ourselves facing the consequences of an injury due to an on-track crash, but fortunately we can count on the willingness of a professional rider like Alex De Angelis. I'm very happy to see Alex return to a circuit he really loves and I hope he can do well. This opportunity will further increase his innate desire to compete."
