MotoGP: Viñales: The championship title? Anything is still possible

Maverick Viñales is loath to give up. The Motegi GP was a weekend of suffering but the Spaniard is looking forward to Australia with confidence. In the winter tests he was the fastest, but since February, the front tyre has changed, as well as (several times) the frame on his M1.

The maths say that there are still 75 points up for grabs, but it also says that Maverick needs to recover 41 against Marquez and 30 against Dovizioso. Those are not small numbers and it looks like an almost desperate feat, but that does not mean that Viñales doesn’t want to try.

We did our best in Japan, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough” he admits, so now it is time to look forward.

Now it's time to focus on Australia in order to make another important step for the championship. For me, Phillip Island is one of my favourite tracks, I like the lay-out a lot and I love being here, it's amazing. When I was here in February I was the fastest, so I'm really motivated for the race. The championship isn‘t over until all the points have been distributed, so anything is still possible and I can‘t wait to be on the bike again to give my 100%” he assures.
