Despite a week in bed because of less than optimum physical conditions, Danilo Petrucci showed his stuff in the rain at Motegi. The morning was complicated by an electrical problem on his Ducati, but in the afternoon he brought home the 6th best time.

The water helped me - the Pramac rider admitted - Today I felt good, but getting back in the saddle after a week of inactivity is never simple. I can’t say that I’m at full fitness, but the most important thing is that I don’t feel too tired after a day of practice. I broke the ice and got in some good training in view of the race.”

A good start that lets him look toward the rest of the weekend with confidence.

Overall it was a rather positive day - he analyses - This track has excellent grip, especially for the front and slightly less for the rear. However, I know that the bike is still not perfectly dialled in, so tomorrow we’ll be able to sort it.

Every time the raindrops start to fall, Danilo is expected to be among the protagonists and this time he has all his papers in order to be there.

“Today I only missed the flying lap, but I am satisfied with the pace I am able to keep - he said - I am confident and convinced that I can stay in the top positions.”
