MotoGP: Lorenzo: The win is closer and closer

It is normal that I am a bit disappointed. I was in the lead for a lot of laps but it wasn’t enough to win. To be precise, Lorenzo lead in Aragón for 15 laps with his usual perfect start, but in the end he had to yield first to Marquez and then to Pedrosa.

Are you happy anyway?
Yes, because I consider this podium to be better than the one in Jerez. Today I was closer to the win. It’s a pity not to be able to choose a harder tyre, but the soft was the only option that worked with the Ducati.”

Progress continues…
Yes, in every race I find some detail that lets me go faster and I understand the bike more and more in depth, so that lets me get close to the limit. I need to thank all the guys on the team and everyone at home who is working to continue improving the bike.

Are you beginning to aim higher?
Aragón has never been the best track for Ducati, but at Motegi it will be different. That is one of my favourite circuits, if not my favourite. The win is close and maybe it will arrive already in Japan.”

What more would you like from the Ducati?
Better performance on the turns. That has always been my strong point, but it is the weak point for the Desmosedici. If we were to make progress in that area, I would be able to ride the way I really want to and not the way the bike wants me to.

Last question: what did you think about Valentino’s race?
He was impressive throughout the weekend. At 38 years old, he demonstrated an incredible capacity for recovery.
