SBK, West with Puccetti until the end of the season

The Australian rider will replace injured Randy Krummenacher on the Kawasaki Ninja at the four remaining rounds

SBK: West with Puccetti until the end of the season

Randy Krummenacher's enforced break, after having injured himself at the latest German round, means that team manager Manuel Puccetti has had to quickly find a valid replacement who can take over from the Swiss rider, who will need time to recover, or rather, until the end of the season.

From among the many names raised this week, the Italian team has selected Australian Anthony West, a 36-year old expert rider who has raced in MotoGP and SBK. In the 250 class, the #13 rider won the Dutch Grand Prix in 2003 and won again at Assen, in Moto2, in 2014.

In Supersport Anthony has won two races and scored 8 podiums, the latest at the inaugural Phillip Island round, his home track (seen on the podium in the photo). Last weekend the Australian raced with a Kawasaki Ninja ZX10-R in the USA, a sort of training exercise in preparation for the Superbike championship to which he now returns?

Manuel Puccetti says this about the decision: “Anthony is fast and has great experience - he explains - he's really strong, considering the other commitments of other riders we were interested in, the Australian is the only one with whom we are able to establish an agreement from now until the season's end, we'll see him at Portimao, Magny-Cours, Jerez and in Qatar”.

In the Puccetti garage, West will be alongside fellow countryman Andrea Pitt, two-time Supersport world champion with Kawasaki and Honda, and a former Superbike and MotoGP rider, now technical manager for the Ninja ZX10-RR.  At least the two “Aussies” won't have any communication problems.
