Toni Elias' American dream continues full sail ahead. After finishing as the best rookie in the Moto America reigning class (Superbike) last year, the Spaniard wasted no time this year, snatching the title three races ahead of time. The win became a mathematical certainty in New Jersey, where #24 scored his ninth race of the season, putting 84 points between himself and Roger Hayden, his Yoshimura team-mate, thus securing the title. A title that also puts an end to the Hamamatsu manufacturer's fast, with its last win dating back to 2009.“I'm pleased for many reasons - commented Toni – firstly for the great opportunity Suzuki gave me last year. I've found an incredible team and this year's bike really performs; I think we'll be able to make our presence felt for some time to come".

As we've said, Elias was able to uncork the champagne three races before the end of the championship, a testament to the supremacy of the former Moto2 champion, who needs just one win in order to catch Wayne Rainey in the national championship's all time winners standings “The situation really improved in the last races. I didn't want to wait to win (the championship); I wanted to do it today and did just that. It looked like I might be able to break away in the race but Josh (Hayes) and Roger (Hayden) came back strong; luckily it finished in the best possible way. This is more than a title for me: 500 or 600 days ago I had decided to stop but now the situation has changed. All it took was a call (from Yoshimura) and I was in this championship, starting to collect some great results. Being here and being champion is incredible”.

Toni continues with real sincerity.

“I've made mistakes in the past, and this has been a great lesson that I'll remember for the rest of my life. I'll continue to do my best, and I want to congratulate all my rivals, with whom I've had some great battles. They pushed me to the max; I'm really happy”.
