A crash heavily conditioned the final result for Michele Pirro – eleventh and sandwiched between the satellite Ducati machines ridden by Bautista and Abraham – thrown from his Desmosedici GP in qualifying while he was following close behind Marc Marquez and his Honda Repsol.

The team Ducati Italian rider talks about what happened: “I was behind Marc - Michele begins - It seemed like he was pushing, but instead he was going back and forth, going fast in some sections and then slowing down suddenly. I went just a hair wide and I lost the bike in acceleration and crashed. That ruined my qualifiers because the Ducati was damaged and there was no time to repair it.”

Were you behind Marquez by chance or was it a strategy?

I didn’t have a strategy. I found myself behind him and I thought that by following him I could only learn, but following him did not help at all and, perhaps, if I had done my own lap by myself, it would have been better for me.

Despite the crash, Pirro was fast: First of all, I will need to do a great start to make up some positions - Michele says - I know that on a dry track I can battle for an important result, in other words, I can stay in the group just behind the podium positions. In the wet? I’ve never ridden the Desmosedici here in the water, so everything would be a surprise for me.”

Pirro is the Ducati tester and he knows the Italian bike’s potential on this track: “Dovizioso will start from the front row tomorrow and Lorenzo from the second. I am happy about that. I could have lapped close to their times and I am convinced that tomorrow we Ducati riders will make a play for the win, even on a difficult track like Misano.”
