"The crashes? I need to ride like this all the time, pushing to the limit, unfortunately the Honda is unstable and it is easier to end up in the gravel compared to the other bikes"

Marc Marquez achieved a new personal record at Misano, namely the crash record, no less than 19 in a single season. Unlike the crash yesterday, the one this afternoon kept the Spaniard from taking pole position on the Italian Riviera. However, Marc prefers seeing the glass as half full, because his Honda will in any case be on the front row alongside Dovizioso.

“I am very happy about today – he began – In FP3 I felt good. Maybe I struggled a bit with the heat in FP4, but tomorrow with the cool I should feel better and have a little help. I thought that I could battle for the pole – he recalled – but I went long on that section and when I touched the white line I lost the front end.”

The Honda rider’s mind is already on tomorrow afternoon.

“From what I saw, Maverick, Andrea and I have a similar pace. We are all three in optimum form, but for the race there is a risk of rain. I’ll have to be alert and careful, because the least error risks weighing on the championship.”

In any case, there is an aspect that gives the five-time world champion confidence in Misano.

“The most important thing was the performance on Friday – he revealed –I managed to be fast with little grip, as well as this morning in the cold. But tomorrow will be a different race and I’ll need to be focused. It is definitely too early in terms of the championship, although Dovizioso is the favourite here in Misano, because he is first in the championship standings.”

The Italian track holds some treachery, especially on the third sector, where Marc struggles more than the others.

It’s difficult – he admitted – Among other things, I don’t think that I will improve much. Unfortunately, that’s our weak point. In fact, the bike shakes a lot, but on the rest of the circuit I feel at ease.”

Then Marc talks about his new personal crash record.

“It is not a simple championship and I have to push to the limit – he explained – I need to ride like that all the time. Obviously I don’t want crash, but it seems that the Honda is unstable and it is easier to end up in the gravel.”
