The final pieces are slotting into place ahead of 2018. Now comes news of the agreement between team Avintia and Tito Rabat. After two years in the reigning class wearing Marc VDS colours, next season will see the rider move to the Spanish team's Ducati GP17.

This will be something of a homecoming for the 2014 Moto2 champion, in that he made his debut in 125 wearing the same team colours back in 2005, as a wildcard at Valencia. Twelve years ago the team was known as Blusens BQ3.

He will now head back to where it all began and Rabat is clearly pleased with the move: “I'm very pleased to have signed with Reale Avintia Racing for the 2018 season – said the Spaniard – after two years with Honda it was time for a change. I have a great opportunity to prove that I can be a competitive rider in MotoGP with a team that I know well– he added - also the Ducati should better suit my riding style and physical build”.

For Avintia, 2018 will be a season of new riders. As well as Rabat, the other new entry is Xavier Simeon, as announced in recent weeks.
