MotoGP: Lorenzo: Marquez and Rossi were incredible

Everything did not go smoothly for Lorenzo on Saturday, even having to do some track and field in FP4 after being stranded by his Ducati. If he ran out of petrol today, today it was an electrical problem that stopped him on the track.

I had to run to get back to the garage. Fortunately, Simon gave me a ride on his scooter. Then I went out with the soft tyre and I did the best time, but I was not happy, I can assure you of that” the Majorcan jokes.

In qualifying he was then able to earn a spot on the second row with the 5th best time which, however, was not entirely satisfactory for him.

I thought I was faster the first time out - he admits - In the second outing I improved and I thought that my time was enough for the first row, but it wasn’t. In qualifying, everyone was very fast, but especially Marquez and Rossi did some incredible times.”

This does not mean that Lorenzo is in a foul mood.

The 5th place finish is a good result on a track where the Ducati struggles - he pointed out – The team did a great job. We solved the problem of vibrations on the bumps, but I know that we still have to make progress in terms of race pace.”

Consistency is still a problem for Jorge who was explosive in Austria too in the first part of the race, only to drop his pace later.

I am happy with my riding style and the job the team is doing, but I am well aware that we will need to find something in the warm up - he says - It will be a hard race, very physical and with a lot of riders capable of maintaining a fast pace.”

Lorenzo, the only Ducati rider to do so, decided to continue using the new fairing. The weak point of this solution is that it limits top speed. In fact, in qualifying, Jorge lost 8 Km/h on the straight compared to his teammate.

I know about this problem, but it lets me have more downforce on the front and, all things considered, it is positive for me” he says.
