MotoGP: Crutchlow 1st at home: Our gamble paid off

It could be the particular livery in full Aaron Slight style, or perhaps the particular hometown air. Impossible to tell the reason, but the only certain thing is that it was Cal Crutchlow who dominated on Friday at Silverstone, even creating a gap of more than two tenths of a second over the second place time, namely Valentino Rossi’s. “Obviously we are pleased with how today went – Cal begins – also given the fact that we used all the available tyre options. In the finale I put on a used front tyre and a new rear. It was a dangerous choice but I did it to make sure I’d be in the top ten since you can never know what will happen tomorrow. We worked in the best possible way and at the moment that means first place!”

Cal is always an interesting character to listen to and he confirms that once again as he talks about the asphalt situation at Silverstone.

“The resurfaced a few corners and those ones are excellent, so why not resurface the whole track? It would be easier for everyone. The problem is that we share every track with Formula 1. Over the space of a year, it gets filled with potholes so I can understand the organisers’ concerns. In any case, I felt at ease and I hope to feel the same tomorrow as well.”
