MotoGP, Rossi and Vinales play the last card at the Misano test

Almost 100 laps for each rider under the Italian sun, with Valentino the last to leave the track. A clear aim, to prevent premature tyre wear at the rear

MotoGP: Rossi and Vinales play the last card at the Misano test

The Yamaha camp is keen to find solutions to its problems, is keen to see the light before time runs out. Yes, because the last round at Spielberg has left the men in blue a little worried, both Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales, and so today's test session at Misano became an almost crucial day for the championship success of both 46 and 25.

The problem they worked on is well-known, or rather the excessive rear tyre wear which, on more than one occasion, has limited the performance of both riders. The riders made the most of the afternoon test session that started at 1pm and finished at 8pm, thanks also to the good weather that accompanied the session after the morning's rain. Valentino Rossi completed roughly 80 laps, but the thing that is most striking, clear proof of the Doctor's desire to solve the problem, is the fact that Valentino was the last rider to leave the track, at 8p precisely.

A clear sign, particularly after his worried words that followed the Austrian GP, where he asked everyone to consider the problems before thinking about the title. All this considering that such a balanced season might really represent a last train for the tenth title, which can only arrive however if there is a change in the Doctor's performance, a change that could come at the GP held on the track dedicated to Marco Simoncelli, which Rossi considers (for several reasons) his special hunting ground, where he can score a win that could relaunch him.

On the other side of the garage, Maverick Vinales also kept busy, completing roughly 90 laps, searching for the consistency and that brilliance that has, in part, vanished, after having started the season as a real matador. Whether there has been a turnaround at Santamonica it's impossible to tell, as it was a private test but from the (few) words issued by the team, it seems sensations were positive, with some new parts tested by both riders, who were pleased both generally and in terms of the lap times (top secret of course).
