Pleased with the collaboration, Dorna Sports and the Motegi track have extended their contract, which was valid until 2018, for a further 5 seasons, from 2019 to 2013 the Japanese Grand Prix will therefore be held at the Twin Ring, a difficult track to reach but one which offers a technical, difficult layout.

Built in 1997 by Honda Japan, the circuit celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and, as well as the “infield” design, the structure also offers a high-speed ring, where the American CART series has raced.

Hosting the Top Class for the first time in 1999 (when Kenny Roberts Junior won with the Suzuki RGV500) Motegi will celebrate its 20th anniversary of the reigning class in 2019: “We are delighted to announce this contract renewal with a place that is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The Twin Ring Motegi is the home track of Honda and the Japanese GP is the home Grand Prix for the Japanese manufacturers. We will continue the event and make further efforts to enhance the value of the MotoGP series.

Susumu Yamashita, president of Mobilityland Corporation, is also very pleased: “This year represents a milestone as the Twin Ring Motegi celebrates its 20th anniversary. We believe that by providing the stage stably would be sure to contribute the development of motorcycle sporting culture."
