The MotoGP championship now has a week off after the Czech Republic/Austria double-header. The market remains active though, with contract negotiations the order of the day. In the team Forward camp, the Luca Marini situation is the current hot topic. Valentino Rossi's brother won't wear the Swiss team's colours in Moto2 in 2018 but is likely to move to Sky Racing Team VR46.

The negotiations seem to have reached a good point, and Sky is expected to make the announcement at Silverstone, despite a counter-offer presented by Forward. In 2018, Marini will share the garage with Pecco Bagnaia, already confirmed, while Niccolò Bulega will remain in Moto3 for one more year.

Forward now has to work out where Lorenzo Baldassarri will go, with Pons having shown interest. Giovanni Cuzari therefore has to work on  incoming riders. For now, Federico Fuligni's name is on the list, having already competed in Germany in place of injured Baldassarri. Then there is a second option, with Yonny Hernández a possible, currently under contract with AGR.
