MotoGP, Zarco: it was time to get back among the best

MotoGP: Zarco: it was time to get back among the best

On a Sunday in which the factory Yamahas failed to shine, the only consolation for the Japanese manufacturer came in the shape of Johann Zarco, fifth across the line, just behind Jorge Lorenzo. The French rider put Vinales and Rossi behind him, turning things around after three tough Grand Prix. The soft front and rear tyre choice paid off.

This morning I was very worried, considering the low temperatures – he comments - then they went up in the afternoon, so I thought the soft was the ideal choice".

Zarco sparkles once more, keeping pace with the best.

“It was a tough race – he states – I started well but was losing too much exiting the corners. I was struggling to pass through the hard braking points. Then things got better – he continues -after 5 or 6 laps I was able to find good pace and get into a rhythm".

In the final laps he even tried to target Lorenzo.

I tried to catch him but was unable to close the gap, so I chose to defend myself from Vinales instead – he admits - fifth place is important, because it was time to get back among the best”.
