MotoGP, In Austria Marquez targets Max Biaggi's 58 podiums

Dovizioso dreams of fighting back and chases 3000 career points with the Ducati

MotoGP: In Austria Marquez targets Max Biaggi's 58 podiums

The Red Bull Ring is one of those tracks that doesn't particularly suit the characteristics of the Honda, but to underestimate the Japanese bike would be a mistake. Let's not forget last weekend at Brno, where Marc Marquez showed them all how it's done, at a track that he doesn't include among his favourites.

With his win in the Czech Republic, the Spaniard scored podium number 57 in the reigning class. He's clocked up 32 wins, 17 second place finished and 8 thirds and is now chasing the total of 58 scored by Max Biaggi. Austria seems to be the ideal hunting ground. In this particular classification, it is Valentino Rossi who holds the record with 189, 80 more than Dani Pedrosa who lies second.

On Austrian soil, everything points at Ducati, with the Borgo Panigale bikes having done the double last year. The spotlight is on Andrea Dovizioso, who has struggled at the last two rounds. The Italian is aiming to fight back and, at the same time, has a particular target in mind, or rather 3000 career points. He is currently on 2992, and would need an eighth place finish to achieve his goal. We're sure that he won't want to settle for that though.

The record for career points scored also belongs to Rossi, who has clocked up 5799 after his fourth place at Brno.
