Marcel Schrötter underwent surgery on his broken scaphoid bone of his left hand yesterday (Monday) in Munich. He suffered the injury in a training session on an enduro bike in Australia with Jack Miller during the summer break.

Dr. Klaus-Dieter Werber, who performed the surgery, conducted a thorough medical check of the rider today and was optimistic for a speedy recovery.

Fortunately, the fracture wasn't displaced and was able to be fixed without complications by a screw, but Marcel is even thinking about racing in the Austrian GP that will begin on Friday. Schrötter has recovered full mobility in his hand, but he is still in pain.

On Thursday he will undergo a check by the Chief Medical Officer at the circuit medical centre to be cleared to race.
