In FP2, Lorenzo used the new aerodynamics, Ducati engineers have been able to interpret the regulation in their own way

The moment came 12 minutes before the end of FP2 at Brno: the Ducati mechanics took off the cover and Jorge Lorenzo went out on track with the new Desmosedici fairing, the one that Petrucci and Pirro tested a few weeks ago at Misano.

Gigi Dall’Igna and his men have once again surprised us, interpreting the regulation in their very own way. The shapes are very different to those of the ‘hammerhead’ that we saw at the start of the year, but it seems that the men in Borgo Panigale have been able to stay inside the new limits, maximising the dimensions of the wings that are now incorporated into the fairing.

For the first time, the upper part of the front fairing is separate from the lateral part that includes the appendages. They are also very large, compared to those seen on rival bikes, closed at the side in accordance with the regulation.

They are not fully incorporated though, there are large side vents that should ensure better aerodynamic performance, considering less loss in speed of the 'ventilated' air which, as we know, causes a loss in pressure.
