MotoGP: Petrucci: most entertaining rival? Crutchlow

The world championship takes a break, but riders still have their commitments, even during the holidays. Danilo Petrucci visited the Radio Deejay studios recently, a guest on the Deejay radio show.

He was joined by Linus and Nicola Savino and together they spoke about the current MotoGP season. There was also mention of the past, with Petrucci highlighting his talents in the wet: “I have to say that I've always got on well in wet conditions – he recalls - when I arrived in the championship the bike wasn't as competitive as others in the dry. But in the rain we were able to find the right pace".

It's a short hop from the past to the present. Talk revolves around this season's podium finishes: “At Mugello I tried to win, I was really on the limit – he analyses - to pass Dovi I had to do the impossible, and I realised that I couldn't do more than third. I tried at Assen too – he adds – I had a great battle with Vale”.

Among his many rivals on track, the Pramac rider highlights the qualities of one rider in particular: “Crutchlow is an entertaining rival – he reveals - he has something quirky, both in the paddock and on track. When they pass him or he runs long, he gets agitated and it's entertaining”.

Then he talks about speed: “At Mugello we get up to 350 km/h on one wheel with the Ducati – he underlines – also on the straight at the Sachsenring in the wet. I've very cautious on the road – he reveals – also because 300 Km/h on track is less dangerous than 200 on the road, where there are walls which scare me. I have a Scrambler anyway, which doesn't go over 90 km/h”.

The championship resumes in early August and Petrucci is particularly looking forward to one round: Misano of course – he reveals – it's a pity we don't do Laguna any more, it was a great weekend and the ideal place to enjoy some vacation time”. There is mention of Pasini, who has proved to be a star of this year's Moto2: “Unfortunately Mattia has a problem with his right arm, as we well know – he reminds us – on his bike the brake and clutch are both on the left. The whole world asks how he can be so fast”.

Lastly he touches on diet: “I eat all the time– he jokes – I usually eat two hours before the race, wholegrain race and tuna”.
