World Superbike engines will roar to life once again 19-20 August on the Lausitzring, but next week we will already have the chance for an appetizer. In fact, most of the teams will be on the German track for a two-day test scheduled for Tuesday 25 July and Wednesday 26 July.

Despite his championship lead, Johnny Rea does not want to miss out on this opportunity to get back astride his ZX-10R. The current championship leader, along with teammate Tom Sykes, will be focusing primarily on chassis architecture in an attempt to hone their weapons for the first round after the summer break.

The teams that will be in action include Ducati with Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri. For the Italian, this will be his very first time on the “Red” at the Lausazia circuit, the right chance to discover all the secrets of the track in detail so he’ll be ready for the round in August. The number 33 rider will undoubtedly be seeking to reverse gears after a bitter weekend at Laguna Seca. In addition to the team Aruba Panigale machines, Xavi Forés will also be on hand astride his Ducati.

The roll call was also answered by Aprilia, with Lorenzo Savadori finally coming back after a rocky season start. In addition to the Italian rider, we will see his teammate, Eugene Laverty. And let’s not forget MV Agusta, with Leon Camier at the centre of conversations about the rider market.

The two days of testing on the Lausitzring, however, will not include Yamaha on the track. Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark, along with Nakasuga, will be busy in Japan at the Suzuka 8 Hours which will be the final act of the Endurance Championship this year. With them we will also see Stefan Bradl with Honda.

Plans are still up in the air for BMW who, if anything, will have only Jordi Torres on the track since De Rosa will also be on a rollercoaster ride next week for the first 8 Hours of his career.
