Over this Laguna Seca race weekend, the minds of many fans are undoubtedly on Nicky Hayden, who passed away on 22 May at the Bufalini hospital in Cesena. At the end of Saturday's race 1, at 6.15 pm local time, an emotional crowd wanted to remember the rider by walking the Californian track.

With a 5 dollar donations, the proceeds of which will go entirely to the Nicky Hayden Memorial Fund, the public commemorated #69. They passed the legendary Corkscrew turn, where a 69 World Champion banner had been placed. Race 2 will get underway this evening, at 11pm local time (CET -9).
