Stefan Bradl won't be the only Honda rider on track this coming weekend. At Laguna Seca, team Ten Kate has decided that young Jacob "Jake" Gagne will ride alongside the German. The news had been circulating for a while, with official confirmation expected in the coming hours. The American, hailing from San Diego, class of '93, will take the place of the late Nicky Hayden.

During his career, the American won the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in 2010 with the KTM FRR 125, before competing in the CEV Moto2 the year after, finishing in 17th place. He then returned home, winning the 2014 AMA Pro Daytona Superbike Championship and the 2015 MotoAmerica Superstock 1000.

He now faces a weekend during which he will represent his country on board the Fireblade SP2.
