MotoGP: Viñales: New frame? Better only on some tracks

Which is the true face of Viñales? The one that was a shout from Dovizioso on dry asphalt at the Sachsenring or the one in the wet who meandered around the lower part of the rankings? Maverick’s day was clearly divided in two.

This morning I was very happy with how I felt on the bike - he recounts - I was able to be consistent with all the tyres I tried and I felt good.

Then he put on the rain tyres and from that moment on the situation was turned upside-down.

I don’t know why I struggled so much - he confesses - It is not normal. I had completely different sensations, and yet at Assen I had been competitive in those conditions. From the time I released the brakes, the problems started and coming out of the corner I did not have traction either. I think the reason might be the bike’s setup.”

While waiting to understand what happened, Viñales also has some doubts about the new frame. If it was love at first sight between Valentino and the evolved chassis architecture, Maverick is still uncertain.

I am continuing to use it to understand its potential - he explains - In Barcelona I was sure that it was better, but at Assen I wasn’t anymore, maybe because of my riding style. This morning I used it and it seemed to work well. I think it depends on the tracks.”
