Yesterday afternoon Max Biaggi was discharged from the San Camillo hospital in Rome, where he had spent 17 days following his Supermotard accident at the Sagittario track in Italy. The rider is now at the Pio XI hospital, also in Rome, where he is continuing to receive treatment.

Biaggi took the opportunity to greet his fans and at the same time provide Italian Mediaset TV with a short statement: “The first thing I want to say is thank-you – he began - I want to thank the fans and everyone who has been close to me. Thanks to surgeon Giuseppe Cardillo who has operated on me twice, to all the nurses in intensive care and to doctor Claudio Ajmone-Cat who is a great example of someone who puts their heart into their work”.

Max is aware that he was at serious risk: “Over these 19 days there was the risk I wouldn't pull through and I have realised that life is a precious gift not to be wasted – he explained - I've retraced my life history and know that I no longer have anything to prove to anyone. My aim now is to get better and give love and happiness to my son and those who love me and those who I love."

In terms of his future, #3 has clear ideas: “I've thought a great deal about people I have known well, like Schumacher and Hayden and I've realised that sometimes you can really lose it all in the blink of an eye -  he reveals - Will I return to racing? The passion remains but I'll move aside for the youngsters – he promised - I want to teach them that talent is no longer enough in this job, as you also need other things that I can teach. To do this job I've always made many sacrifices - now I can say that my life is great. Thanks everyone.”
