Dry or wet, it does not matter much, because Marc Marquez is always out front with his Honda. The Spaniard may not have taken pole position at the TT, but in any case he will be on the front row tomorrow alongside Johann Zarco. Only 65 thousandths separated him from the Tech3 Frenchman.

Today it was important to be out front in qualifying - the Spaniard began - maybe I did not do anything extraordinary, but what counts is being on the front row. Seeing these two days, on a dry track the Yamaha has a good pace. We will try to see what happens tomorrow.”

Number 93 is certainly not astonished by Zarco’s performance – to the contrary.

“The surprising thing is that this is Johann’s first pole - he commented - but I do not see anything too terribly incredible. I say that because he is a great rider and he has already demonstrated that he is fast this season. Plus, he proved to be very competitive in terms of race pace on Friday.”

However, Marc’s mind is on the race

Tomorrow, first of all we will need to see the track conditions - he emphasized - Despite the dry, there will not be any great grip. I will need to find my pace straight away if the asphalt is not wet - he warned - In any case, I am well aware that Maverick will get close, even if he starts from behind because he has a great pace. Anyway, my goal is the podium.”

There is an aspect that makes the five-time world champion confident.

“The important thing is that in these conditions we are always in the top five and never far from the lead. This is a fundamental point for us.”

The sensation is that these Michelins seem to have little grip at the TT, but the Honda rider does not agree.

“On other tracks things go differently - he analysed - Maybe here there are a few more difficulties with the rear, but I think the front is better than in the past. I think, however, that this is a peculiarity of the Honda.”

Lastly, the tyre choice.

“All the front options have given me a good response. With the intermediates I was at the limit, whereas with the soft tyres I was able to be more competitive. It is not such a big jump from the hard tyres.”
