He crashed, but he refused to give up straight away, getting up and finishing eighth in the morning. In the afternoon, on the other hand, he went out on the track with a knife between his teeth, proving to be a true surprise in FP2. Only Maverick Viñales was able to do better than Jonas Folger at the end of this Friday in Assen.

Where should we start, Jonas?

I am very happy about this first day here in Holland. We were able to be competitive and the result this afternoon demonstrates it.”

In the morning, however, things did not go right.

Unfortunately, I ended up in the gravel straight away because of the oil Dovizioso left on the track. I couldn’t do anything to avoid the oil - he commented - among other things, I had a bad highside. My hip and shoulder still hurt and I struggle a bit getting on the bike.”

In any case, in FP1 you showed that you can stay with the best.

“To tell the truth, after the accident I got a little nervous, losing some confidence. In fact, it took a few laps to be fast again and to make a few changes on the bike, but without giving up.

The second place time in the afternoon must certainly set aside the disappointment from the morning.

I think that we moved in the right direction straight away with the M1 - he revealed - My riding style is very well suited to the Assen track and we were able to be more consistent. I am very pleased with what the team has done.”
