SBK: Melandri: "thinking about it, I shouldn't have pushed"

It was the final lap of the race when Marco Melandri found himself third before unexpectedly crashing at the Rio turn, losing the front of his Ducati Panigale and finishing in the sand.

A pity for the factory Aruba rider: “this morning I had great sensations - reveals Marco- but as the time went by the track changed due to the increase in temperature; this caused me to lose feeling with the bike, because we were suffering with a lack of grip right from the early stages”.

Did you have a strategy before the crash?

On the last lap I wanted to stick close to Rea and Davies, to try and make one last attack. I thought that their battle might provide me with a great opportunity,  but at the Rio turn I came off the brakes, losing the front and crashing. Looking at it now, I shouldn't have pushed”.
