SBK: Fracture of third lumbar vertebra for Davies, ruled out of race 2

On the terrifying final lap of race1, the most dramatic moment was undoubtedly the incident involving Chaz Davies and Jonathan Rea, with the two riders crashing but in a very different condition after the event. The Welshman crashed before being his by the world champion, who couldn't do anything to avoid him and was also launched into the air, although the Northern Irishman was able to get up and finish the race.

Davies initially got up (though obviously in pain) to try and get his Ducati, but he then gave into the pain and was assisted by track personnel. With regard to Chaz's condition, there is initial talk of thoracic trauma, with the rider having been transferred to the “Infermi” hospital in Rimini for tests, particularly regarding a lung.

Note Rea's sportsmanship after the incident. During the lap of honour, he stopped at the site of the accident where Davies was receiving first-aid, to check on the Welshman's condition.

UPDATE AS OF 4.50PM: More details begin to be issued about Chaz Davies' condition. The rider has suffered a fracture of the third lumbar vertebrae as well as a left thumb contusion. It is therefore very unlikely he will take part in race 2.
