MotoGP, Dall’Igna: “The win? We are only thinking about our work”

MotoGP: Dall’Igna: “The win? We are only thinking about our work”

It may not be the emotion of the first win last August in Austria, but it is something very similar. Gigi Dall’Igna will not easily forget this Sunday at Mugello. For him, this is the third win since his arrival in Borgo Panigale.

The tests two weeks ago were the springboard for the GP17, but Dall’Igna prefers braking.

“It is true that we did the tests, but we were alone on the track and without any references. Consequently, that always makes it hard to understand how competitive the bike really is, even if I was still optimistic after the tests.”

Now in Borgo Panigale they can dream big, but Dall’Igna keeps his feet planted firmly on the ground.

“Right now I do not want to think in terms of the Championship - he commented - My mind is only on Barcelona. I do not know if we will be able to repeat the performance from Mugello, but it is a track that is similar in certain senses. However, we need to point out that at Catalunya the grip level is lower, so that is an aspect that makes things more complicated.”

The father of the GP17 has a very clear idea of which direction to go.

We just need to work, acting like nothing has happened - he warned - There is an evolution programme that has undergone variations in recent months, since the results achieved do not reflect the expectations. In any case, I am confident because what we have learned will give us awareness for the future.”

He is also appreciative of Petrucci, third over the line ahead of Rossi.

Danilo was spectacular, a fantastic race, as was Bautista. Seeing three Ducatis in the top five spots is great, but we know that we have competitive rivals.”

At this point, does the Mugello podium provide more motivation to Dovizioso or more of a desire to react for Lorenzo?

“I hope both. Dovi will certainly come away fortified after Mugello, but so will Jorge, because he will be able to do some productive reasoning.

The final comment was on the new, much talked about fairing. Waiting times will not be too short.

We are working on it, maybe in the second part of the season it is reasonable to think that we will bring out something different.”
