MotoGP: Rossi: I'll do my best to race at Mugello

Right now, there's nothing Valentino can do but wait. After the injury sustained while training with his MX bike, Rossi is not yet in perfect shape and in some pain. A couple of days before the Italian GP begins, he's trying to heal up as quickly as possible but only time will tell.

What is certain is that the Doctor wants to try and race at Mugello and has no intention of waving the white flag.

Unfortunately I crashed while training with the MX bike and I'm still in a lot of pain around the thorax and abdomen - he states- Luckily, I'm getting better day after day and so this makes me hopeful ahead of the Mugello weekend. I really want to take part in the Italian GP and am working to get back in shape as quickly as possible”.

Tomorrow he will be in Tuscany and the circuit doctors will decide whether to allow him to ride his Yamaha or not. A routine exam that all riders undergo after an accident.

It won't be easy but I still have a few days in which to get treatment - continues Valentino - On Thursday I'll have a medical check-up to see if I get the OK to ride, if it goes well, I'll be on my M1 on Friday to assess how I am doing. I'll definitely be doing my best to be on track on Saturday”.

VINALES: WINNING IS FUNDAMENTAL - Team-mate Maverick Vinales is in a very different frame of mind. After the mistakes by Valentino and Marquez in France, and his win, he's now leading the championship once more.

The Spaniard is now 17 points ahead of Pedrosa, 23 from Rossi e 28 ahead of Marc. But he needs to work to increase this advantage.

After the Le Mans race I am very pleased, the team worked at an incredible level and I'm sure they'll continue to do so - comments Maverick - We have a really good bike for Mugello, I track that offers great grip, and we need to exploit this. In such a competitive championship, the next races will be key and it's fundamental to win at Mugello. I'll continue to fight, pushing to the max as always”.
