Compared to the previous races, the Donington Supersport 300 proved to be rather less chaotic. While, at the first three rounds, there was a significant group of riders battling it out, with various crashes and incidents, today the show was played out by just three individuals.
Coppola, Sanchez and Garcia broke away from the rest of the field, battling it out among themselves from the first to the last lap. Just before the line, Coppola went after Sanchez and got past him to win his first race in the category. The Yamaha rider rode the R3 of team SK Racing with determination and it was great to see him braking hard and taking on his rivals: “I waited for the right moment to attack Perez - commented a very happy Coppola- and, at the last corner, I got past him and won”.
Perez and his Honda and Garcia, also on a Yamaha R3, completed the podium, bringing home another excellent result.
The current championship leader and winner of the first two races, Dutch man Scott Deroue, closed fourth on his Kawasaki Ninja while it proved to be a great race for Armando Pontone, fifth after working his way up from twenty-first on the grid. The team Iodaracing rider closed ahead of Schotman, Giacomini, Rusmiputro, Valle and the fast Ana Carrasco, in more difficulty today than in previous races.
Championship standings: Deroue 68, Coppola 66, Garcia 51.
