SBK: STK1000: Rinaldi dominates and wins, Tamburini 2nd

On the day of red flags, Stock1000 was not to be left out, with no less than two interruptions and three starts. The first red flag was caused by the accident on the third lap involving Mike Jones and Luca Marconi, with the former unable to avoid the latter who had fallen an instant before at Tamburello corner. It was a big scare for the Italian rider, conscious, but taken to the hospital in Bologna. The second stop, on the other hand, came after the synchronized fall of Nocco and Moser, which resulted in gravel on the track.

At the third start, everything went smoothly (although there were still plenty of crashes) and the win went to the man who seemed to be in the best form throughout the weekend, namely Michael Rinaldi. The Ducati standard-bearer dominated all three starts without every relinquishing the lead, thereby bringing home his second win in three rounds. Second place went to Roberto Tamburini, skilfully creating a gap ahead of the rest of the group, with Toprak Razgatlioglu completing the podium after a long battle with Federico Sandi, fourth over the line. Behind the BMW riding Italian were his compatriots (and fellow BMW riders) Marco Faccani and Matteo Ferrari, who did an excellent wild card ride.

Seventh place for Suchet ahead of Jones, Schacht and Sanchioni who closed out the top ten. Also finishing in the points was Cecchini, 13th ahead of D’Annunzio, whereas the other Italians finished 17th (Pusceddu) and 19th (Calia), with the latter penalized with a ride-through for a jump start. As mentioned, there were a lot of crashes that even involved some of the big names in the category like Florian Marino and Luca Vitali, falling within the first two laps.
