MotoGP: Dovizioso: "Jerez? I honestly don't know what to expect"

The season hasn't got off to the kind of start that Ducati expected. Aside from the inaugural Losail round, the Argentina and Texas events left the Borgo Panigale team with a bitter taste. Now the championship moves on to Spain, and there's hope of a turnaround, though Jerez is definitely not among the red bike's preferred tracks, having struggled to place well in recent years.

For this very reason, Andrea Dovizioso prefers not to make any predictions, despite the recent test: “We did a one-day test at this circuit one month ago but I don’t exactly know what to expect from the Jerez race - admits the Italian - Our balance sheet after the first three rounds of the season is not satisfactory enough. We thought we would be quicker this year, but with the exception of the Qatar race, it hasn’t been like this so far."

Dovizioso has no intention of throwing in the towel though: “We are all working to change the situation and although the Jerez track is one of the toughest for me and Ducati, I will be fighting hard in Spain to try and get back onto the podium.”

Jorge Lorenzo is also not about to give up. On Thursday he will turn 30 and he doesn't want to ruin the party: "We have always made small steps forward in the latest rounds - analyses the Majorcan, second to Rossi in last year's race Jerez is one of my favourite tracks, I have excellent memories of it, and I’ve scored a number of wins there"

The Majorcan is also well aware that the Spanish track has always been something of a stumbling block for the Ducati: "It’s not the most favourable track for Ducati. We are analyzing all the data, including those from the recent test at this circuit, to carry on working on the bike and improve our competitiveness."
