THE SURPRISE  The Czech rider powers the Ducati to the front row: "The best bike I've ever ridden"

MotoGP: Abraham: I was nervous, I've never ridden the Ducati with rain tyres

Like a fan who's ended up alongside his idols, Karel Abraham arrives for the press conference. While waiting to enter, he never stops filming the scene on his iPhone. Selfies and then a video. Perhaps he'll watch it back later to check that what's happening is actually for real.

His team, Aspar, is a family, team manager Gino Borsoi is a former rider. His crew chief Bruno Leoni worked with Casey Stoner in 2007.

Son of the owner of the Brno track, Karel is known as a "rider with a case", but he's a professional, an educated guy who speaks great English and has his feet firmly on the ground. His dad is an interesting character, dedicated to his children's passions. Karel's sister is a singer.

Abraham junior is perhaps thinking of his tough year in Superbike as he takes a seat next to Marc Marquez. And stops filming.

"Argentina is one of my favourite tracks – he states - we worked well in every session, using various tyres. At first I was nervous because I'd never ridden the Ducati with the Michelins in these conditions, and the track wasn't fully wet. It's an unexpected result, we've suffered in the past. It's definitely the best result I could have achieved. It went well in Qatar too, but we're only at the start of the championship. I've got on well with this bike ever since Valencia, improving at every track, even at the last Qatar round."
