It's the day for doubles. Following on from Joan Mir in Moto3, Franco Morbidelli repeated the feat in Moto2, doing exactly as he did in Qatar. The Italian led the race from start to finish, moving into the lead immediately at the start and setting a pace that proved difficult for the others to match: “I was fast throughout the entire race, trying to break away, but at the end I was ready to battle with Marquez, until I saw he was no longer behind me. I'm really happy with this result and hope to continue like this”, explained “Franky” in parc fermé.

The only one able to bother #21 was his team-mate Alex Marquez who, having caught the Italian in the final stages, then suffered a highside on the last lap as he tried to fight for the win. Second for Miguel Oliveira, who scores a first podium for  KTM, a first for him in Moto2, while Tom Luthi closes third.

Strong fourth place for Lorenzo Baldassarri, who put together a solid, albeit solitary race, ahead of Vierge and Simone Corsi, who closes a positive sixth and after a difficult qualifying session. behind him is rookie Francesco Bagnaia, very pleased with his seventh position: “At around mid race I was in trouble but towards the end I regained speed and was able to finish seventh, despite leaving a lot of doors open on the last lap, to score important points for the championship in which I'm in eighth place”.  Sandro Cortese, Brad Binder and Hafizh Syahrin round out the top ten.
