MotoGP: Iannone: I haven't exploited my full potential

By a whisker, Iannone managed to scrape into the top 10 on day one of the Argentina GP. An important result, as he's secure in case of rain on Saturday.

Andrea is continuing his apprenticeship with Suzuki and his optimism seems to grow as the days pass.

I'm very pleased - he says - we've worked well and this morning I was able to improve on my times even without a fresh tyre. I didn't exploit our full potential in the afternoon either, we made some tests but haven't understood everything, if not that the soft tyre is slower”.

Information that will useful in qualifying.

I am calm, we have clear ideas on what we need to improve - he continues - In acceleration there's still too much skating and I lose confidence in changing direction when on the brakes, the front wheel tends to lock. As I've said, I have some ideas and feel confident”.

Iannone was, together with Valentino, one of the riders who complained most about the Michelin tyre.

I think everyone did and in fact, they've brought the old one - he underlines- This morning, I used it but it has a compound that is slightly too soft for this track and so I think we'll postpone that test”.

It was not an easy day for Alex Rins, who had to deal with some pain. Arriving at Termas de Rio Hondojust a few days after fracturing his talus, the Spaniard had to grit his teeth to close the day in 20th place.

This morning my ankle didn't hurt and I quickly adapted to the track  - he comments - I could be fast through the turns where my foot wasn't bothering me. In the afternoon, I used a bandage but felt more pain, particularly after a few laps, and I couldn't be so fast. Tomorrow I'll try to use painkillers to see if they can help.
