MotoGP, Lorenzo: in the Jerez tests both I and the Ducati improved

"Despite the results, progress is constant. Termas is not my favourite track but the D16 is fast and I am not setting any limits for myself"

MotoGP: Lorenzo: in the Jerez tests both I and the Ducati improved

For Lorenzo, the time has come to take one last glance back at the Qatar GP, his first on a Ducati, and to look forward. Termas de Rio Hondo awaits, a race that will represent another step toward adapting to his new bike. However, the difficulties he has faced serve as lessons that help look to the future.

A more complicated race than that one is unthinkable. I even went long on the first lap - he goes back to Losail - The conditions were difficult for everyone, but even more so for me since I still need to get to know this bike.

As we said, Jorge knows how to learn from his mistakes and that is what he has done.

I learned that we are still far from our limits. I learned that I still need to get used to this bike’s reactions, but little by little, despite the results, I can tell that there is constant improvement - he points out - Even in the Jerez tests, we took another step forward, not just me, but the bike too, and we’ll see if the conditions here allow us to demonstrate that. Those 84 laps were useful to familiarize myself with the bike and I tested some new material that will be able to help us improve our speed.

Including the new fairing that has “positive points, but in general we still need to work on it” resolve the issue and then focus on his path.

“At Ducati they are very professional and they have analysed everything. They gathered a lot of information and I have done my homework on how to react” he assures.

And so we come to Termas de Rio Hondo.

This track has a long straight and we will take advantage of it. Historically it is a good track for Ducati. Dovizioso has been on the podium many times here - he reminds us - It is not one of my favourite tracks, but I am coming here without setting any limits for myself.

In Argentina, however, there is always some concern over the track conditions.

On this track there is always a bit of confusion at the beginning, because with the dirty track, the tyres wear quickly - Lorenzo says - Then, from the second practice session, it gets more realistic. If I start with good sensations, everything will be easier.

Partly because the Desmosedici loves tracks with a lot of grip.

The Ducati works better when there is a lot of grip, but we need to make a bike that works in all conditions” he says.
