MotoGP, Iannone: "Rio Hondo, a good track for me to fight back"

MotoGP: Iannone: "Rio Hondo, a good track for me to fight back"

There is still some disappointment on Andrea Iannone's face after the crash he suffered in Qatar. The Maniac was forced to wave the white flag just as he was fighting for a podium place. Losail is in the past though, and his mind is already focused on the coming weekend's race in South America.

An occasion not to be wasted: “I'm very excited to be racing in Argentina – commented the Suzuki rider – obviously I'm disappointed about what happened two weeks ago. I think Rio Hondo is a good track for us – he added – I also really like it because it's fast and technical”.

Looking back at past editions, Iannone knows there are always pitfalls: “I hope the track conditions are good – stated the Italian – it's usually dirty and it takes several sessions before it improves”.

In the Suzuki camp, Alex Rins is champing at the bit. His debut proved extremely positive, with the Spaniard finished ninth under the floodlights. Now the rookie rider cannot wait to consolidate that performance in South America: “I have to say that my first race in MotoGP was as fast as it was short – underlined the rider– I like the Rio Hondo track, I can exploit the GSX-RR 's acceleration and the straight will seem shorter than it did when I raced in Moto2”.

There is only one unknown for him, and that is his physical condition. “Unfortunately I hurt myself while training–  he commented it's nothing serious, but I need more to recover, so I hope the pain doesn't condition my performance. I'm really keen to get on with my MotoGP experience”.
