He seemed to have a hold of the situation and was leading the race, fighting with Rea from the first to the penultimate lap, before sliding into the run-off area on entry to the long left-hand turn where he had been able to make the difference.

Chaz Davies crashed while leading the race, throwing away the opportunity to climb back up the standings and close in on the Kawasaki world champion, who won again today, his fifth victory so far this year, profiting from the gift the Ducati rider offered him.

Johnny has scored full marks this far: 5 wins in 5 race, using his ability and his experience while also counting on a small dose of luck: “I'm really sorry for Chaz - Rea is a gentleman - today I was struggling with my bike, particularly in acceleration, I tried to stay ahead but Chaz was quicker. His mistake handed me the win”. Class and honesty.

A fantastic second place for Marco Melandri, increasingly at ease with the Panigale of team Aruba. Tom Sykes reached the third step fo the podium, after a night disturbed by some illness; #66 nevertheless fought hard and was rewarded with a third-place finish.

Alex Lowes made a great recovery. After crashing and technical issues in practice, the British Yamaha rider, who started mid-field, was able to climb up to fourth, finishing just ahead of his team-mate Van Der Mark.

After the great sixth place finished scored by Jordi Torres with the Althea BMW, Argentinian Leandro Mercado, racing for the first time after a long break, was able to score an impressive seventh place. Tati hadn't raced since October, in the last Superstock race which finished in the worst possible way. The fact he was able to hold off Laverty's Aprilia, belonging to the rich Milwaukee team, is a significant result for Iodaracing.

Bradl and Hayden are again off the pace at Motorland Aragon, with a lot of work still to do on the CBR Fireblades of team Honda Ten Kate. Eleventh for Camier with the MV Agusta, Julian Simon concludes his first SBK race in thirteenth, but the most interesting thing was the fact that the Aprilia rider rode with number 3 on his RSV4, identical to that of Max Biaggi who, with the same bike, won two world titles.

Alex De Angelis rounded out the points zone with the Pedercini Kawasaki. The most dangerous moment of the entire race was experienced by Spaniard Xavi Fores when he was engulfed in the flames coming from the faulty exhaust of his Panigale. Fortunately, the rider came out with just a few slight burns, whereas his bike went up entirely in smoke.

Championship standings: Rea 125, Sykes 78, Davies 70.
