It takes the combined standings to figure out who had the best of the day, considering the fact that the second session, the one held in the afternoon, was on a wet track because of the rain: it was Italian Paolo Grassia who was fastest in the fledgling Supersport 300 class, with 37 riders registered from all over the world, from New Zealand to Brazil, from the Ukraine to Turkey.

The young rider on team Made in CIV Kawasaki took advantage of the dry session, hurling his Ninja around the turns at Motorland with a final time of 2’12”501, the first point of reference in this class on the Spanish track.

Behind Spaniards Sanchez and Garcia ahead of Dutchman Schotman on the Yamaha R3 machines, was another Italian, De Gruttola, also astride the small single-cylinder from Iwata.

In seventh place was Kenan Sofuoglu’s pupil, Cabuk; Armando Pontone on team Iodaracing was ahead of Scott Deroue, at ease in the wet, but eleventh in the combined standings.

Ana Carrasco was fifteenth, with New Zealander Avalon Biddle closing out the time sheets in twenty-fourth time and the last thing to note is that, out of 37 riders, 34 qualified.

The next Supersport 300 event is scheduled for tomorrow with the two Superpole sessions that will determine the starting order.
