SBK, Savadori: "I wanted to race, the doctors stopped me"

The Aprilia rider had a check-up where he was found to be 'unfit'. At Aragón he will follow the team from the garage: "I'll be back soon and I'll try to stay at the front"

SBK: Savadori:

The after-effects of the crash at Chang could not break the strong and young Lorenzo Savadori after the violent high side on his Aprilia that threw him harshly to the ground. However, there will be no Spanish round for him and Julian Simon will be temporarily subbing for the rider from Cesena.

The team Milwaukee rider will go to Aragón but he will not be able to ride his RSV4: “I am leaving for Spain and I will be in the garage with the rest of the team - Lorenzo was keen to point out - but only to provide my contribution to helping the work method continue well, which is still a long and complicated process for us.”

How are you? Are you still in pain?

“No, I am fine, but you know how it is. After careful examinations following the crash, the doctors preferred to declare me unfit to ride in the two races at Motorland. Obviously I am not happy sitting around watching everyone else in the garage, but… in order to heal well and not have problems in the future, it is best to sacrifice racing in this Spanish round now.”

Watching you ride, in the tight corners you still seem to be hanging off even more, even farther out of the saddle on your RSV4…

My style is to ride with my bike very far off the bike, far from the tank, so that’s true. It is also a question of setups… we are doing a lot of work on our Aprilia to find the ideal setting for me and it is not a simple thing to do. To the contrary, it is very complicated and that is why I will follow the team to Aragón with my eyes wide open and watching every smallest detail.”

Only two rounds have been raced and Rea is already running away with the Ducatis trying to keep pace with him…

“Yes, Rea is doing exactly what he did last year and the Ducatis, particularly Davies, are trying to make life difficult for him. This year the level of the front runners is even higher, as is the level of all the other riders on the track, in all honesty. I want to get back to full fitness as soon as possible and make my contribution. We can also stay at the front and we will try to do so soon, very soon.
