SBK, Julian Simon to replace Lorenzo Savadori at Aragon

The 2009 125GP champion will ride the Milwaukee Aprilia in place of the Italian, who is still carrying injury after Thailand

SBK: Julian Simon to replace Lorenzo Savadori at Aragon

Following the bad crash he suffered in Sunday's race in Thailand, Lorenzo Savadori will be forced to sit out the next Spanish round, taking place at the Motorland di Aragon.

The Italian, riding for team Milwaukee Aprilia is still suffering the effects of impacting withe hard Buriram asphalt after being violently flung from his RSV4 into the air. The white smoke and blocked rear wheel let #32 down, forcing him to retire and lick his wounds.

At Motorland it will be Spanish rider Julian Simon to step in to ride the factory Aprilia, alongside Irishman Eugene Laverty, Savadori's team-mate. Simon is 29 and has significant experience in the MotoGP world championship, having scored the 125 title in 2009 with the Aprilia of team Aspar, with 7 race wins overall. In addition, the Villacanas rider has competed in 250, Moto2 and Supersport, obtaining solid results.

With good knowledge of the track, Julian stated: I'm really keen and excited to be able to race in SBK next weekend at Aragon. It will be the first time I'm riding a 1000cc bike, I don't know what kind of results I can expect. I will definitely focus on learning as much as possible and having fun with the Aprilia of team Milwaukee, without having the pressure of being expected to achieve particularly great things. I have to thank Tito Rabat for having allowed me to accept this opportunity, given that my main role this year is to train with him”.
