SBK, Haslam to wildcard at Donington with Puccetti

The expert Brit, well supported by Kawasaki UK, will take part in the British round with the Italian team, "aiming for the podium"

SBK: Haslam to wildcard at Donington with Puccetti

The good news keeps coming for team Puccetti Kawasaki. After confirming the return of Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu, who will be back on his Ninja ZX6R at Aragon after months away, the Superbike team will now be able to count on pretty strong reinforcement, in the shape of Leon Haslam. With 38 SBK podiums and 5 race wins under his belt, he will take part in the British round at Donington Park (26-28 May) as a wildcard.

The 2010 SBK runner-up is directly supported by Kawasaki UK and knows the English track extremely well - he'll be there in the coming days for round 1 of the BSB series. Team manager Manuel Puccetti is pleased and optimistic as we speak to him just before he leaves for Aragon:I confirm the news, it's 100%, Leon will race with us at Donington. He'll be there as a wildcard, something we'd had planned for him for some time, after the positive winter test at Portimao”.

Have you only planned this wildcard or will there be more?

First we need to see how Leon does in the two races at Donington of course. He'll race with one of our bikes and we'll support him as best we can. If he does well, we can consider future events, probably towards the end of the championship”.

Has Haslam told you what his goal will be in the UK?

“Leon has said he'll be coming to Donington to aim for the podium”.
