SBK, Davies: "Melandri braked harder than I expected"

The Welshman is disappointed about Race 2: "Today the podium was within reach, after the red flag I had problems in acceleration"

SBK: Davies:

It wasn't the Sunday that Chaz Davies was expecting. The Welshman leaves Buri Ram disappointed with sixth place in Race 2. The crash undoubtedly conditioned the Borgo Panigale rider's performance, and after the restart he had to deal with some acceleration issues with his Ducati. As if that weren't enough, Rea's win has extended the Northern Irishman's lead over Davies in the championship.

The crashed proved to be a heavy blow. What happened?

At turn 3, Marco braked hard, harder than I expected. Unforunately I didn't perfectly calculate his braking, and had to go wide. In that section the rear tends to lock up, I couldn't control it, probably because I wasn't on the cleanest part of the track”.

After the restart, you struggled, especially along the straight.

“I had various issues with the throttle, after certain components were changed after the crash. I couldn't push as I wanted, and was also suffering from overheating like Melandri”.

How do you sum up the result?

“After what happened in the morning, sixth place was a salvage. I'm disappointed of course, as the podium was within our reach”.

Rea won, increasing his lead. Now you need to win at Aragon?

“We leave Thailand with a lot more points than last season. The season is long, we're only at round two and anything can still happen”.
