SBK: Rea scores the hat-trick in Thailand

Impeccable. This is the perfect adjective with which to sum up Johnny Rea's race in Thailand, the third of this 2017 season. Impeccable because the two-time World Champion rode better than everyone, he was the fastest, he went flat out from beginning to end, with just one finger controlling the front brakes of his factory ZX10RR, taking each turn on the limit, with perfect, rounded trajectories.

For Rea this is the third consecutive win in three races, the perfect hat-trick for him, and SBK win number 41: “I got away really well from pole -  said Johnny in parc fermé- I pushed right from the start and was able to break away without any trouble, because my feeling with the bike was perfect”. His words perfectly summing up a race in which he dominated from start to finish.

In second place, like in Australia, Chaz Davies, the first rider of the Aruba Ducati right now: “twenty important points today, but I couldn't do more against -  admits Chaz- I lost some time with Sykes but did my best to make it back up”. Third place for Tom Sykes who rounds out the podium, getting past Melandri on the very last lap. This wasn't the result Tom wanted, but his bike was sliding all over the place. A ptity for Melandri as the podium seemed to be a sure thing, but the Italian Ducati rider couldn't fight off the Kawasaki rider's attack.

The two Yamaha Pata riders races together, with Dutchman Van Der Mark closing fifth, followed by Alex Lowes, sixth. Further back there was few duels, Torres, seventh, closed ahead of Camier with the MV Agusta and the two Hondas of Hayden and Bradl, still far off the pace. Laverty's retirement meant that Lorenzo Savadori was the only Aprilia Milwaukee rider to cross the line, thirteenth while both Alex De Angelis and Ricky Russo finished outside of the points zone.

Championship standings: Rea 75, Davies 60, Sykes 42, Lowes 36
